Everything You Need To Know About Winstrol

Winstrol is widely regarded as the go-to anabolic steroid for cutting cycles.

You may also hear some people call it Winny.

It’s popular mainly for its ease of use and effectiveness with significant results reported in as little as 4 weeks into a cycle.

So if you’re here because you’ve heard Winstrol can speed up your progress on route to being competition ready.

Or turn you into an aesthetically flawless specimen with the height of summer just around the corner then you’ve come to right place.

Because in this review you’re going to discover what Winstrol REALLY does and whether the potential rewards outweigh the considerable risks.

What Is Winstrol

Winstrol is a DHT based Anabolic Steroid developed in the late 1950’s by Winthrop Laboratories.

It’s primarily used in bodybuilding today by those looking to lower body fat quickly and improve overall definition.

It is considered safe by the FDA and it can survive the passage through the digestive tract and liver, while remaining intact for long enough to be used by the body.

Back when it was first developed it was a common prescription medication that helped patients maintain and indeed gain weight despite certain muscle wasting conditions.

Whilst the steroid is still readily available in some pharmacies and veterinary clinics, it is certainly not prescribed any where near as often as it once was.

This is in no small part down to the controversy that has surrounded the compound over the years.

The best example of Winstrol garnering worldwide attention would have to be from 1988 at the Olympic Games In Seoul, South Korea.

Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson won a Gold medal in the 100m Men’s Final after beating the hotshot American favourite Carl Lewis in the process.

However he subsequently tested positive for Stanzozolol aka Winstrol and was stripped of his title before being hit with a long-term ban from Athletics.

Winstrol is proven to be effective for any bodybuilders looking to improve their strength and retain muscle mass whilst losing body fat simultaneously.

It is very popular for use during the run up to competitions as its cuts down on your body’s water weight.

This produces a chiselled, defined and highly vascular effect.

It is also safe enough for women to use which is rare in the steroid arena.

Because of its low anabolic rating and non-estrogenic properties women can put it to good use during a bulking phase and achieve significant results in doing so.

Winstrol is 3 times more anabolic than testosterone which has an anabolic rating of 100!

How Does Winstrol Work?

Winstrol binds to the androgen receptor to great effect and the tablets specifically have a low degree of progestogenic activity so there’s less risk of side effects such as developing man-boobs on this.

One of its main steroidal traits is its ability to lower the levels of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG).

This is beneficial because it allows free testosterone levels to increase and for your body to become more anabolic.

Winstrol increases protein synthesis to a very high degree along with boosting collagen synthesis!

This is great news for anyone interested in building lean muscle mass.

Winstrol also has a very unique structure that actually makes it far more functional than its other DHT derived steroid cousins.

These modifications mean it is classed as a Heterocyclic steroid and they are responsible for the strong binding affinity to the androgen receptor and do not render it inactive in the muscle tissue.

Estrogen? The fact Stanzozolol is incapable of turning to estrogen (the female hormone) means estrogenic side effects are practically nonexistent.

So there’s no need to worry about developing an exquisite set of breasts that even Kim Kardashian would be proud of when taking Winstrol.

How Do You Use Winstrol?

As with many Anabolic steroids, there are two ways to take Winstrol and both of them come with risks.

Achieving a shredded physique like the guy below doesn’t come without risk.

I’ll get to that later though.

First of all Winstrol can be taken orally, in pill form.

This is obviously the more convenient method however because it’s an 17aa-structured steroid it could be potentially harmful to your liver.

Alternatively, you can take Winstrol via intra-muscular injection via the upper arm, thigh or butt.

This means it goes straight into your circulation which is much safer for the liver.

If you choose to take it in pill form;

  • a 40-80mg dose is recommended on a daily basis for maximum effectiveness.

Though it must be noted the steroid only stays in your system for up to 9 hours this way so you may have to take it twice a day.

For the injections;

  • Doses between 50-100mg will do and it will stay in your system for up to 24 hours.

A typical cycle length for Winstrol should be a maximum of 6-8 weeks and it is advised that you begin to reduce your dosage steadily in the last two weeks.

Potential Side Effects Of Winstrol

Unfortunately its time to talk about the side effects because nothing in this world that produces such extreme results can be used without consequences.

Its true what your elders have been telling you since you were just a kid – You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Acne: The most commonly associated side effect with steroids can be seen in full effect as a result of taking Stanzozolol, as its androgenic effects cause the skin to produce more and more oil.

Say hello to a spotty back!

Baldness: Many men’s worst fears could be realised when taking this substance..

There is a good chance you could lose your hair.

If you’re already bald then nothing to worry about. 🙂

The higher levels of DHT you will receive could cause your hair follicles to shrink and eventually stop growing altogether.

If you have a full-bodied Barnet or luscious locks you want to protect you might want to avoid Winstrol.

Cholesterol Increase: I know what you’re thinking, is this necessarily a bad thing?

Sadly the answer is an emphatic yes because we’re not talking about an increase in good cholesterol (HDL), we are focusing on LDL – which is BAD cholesterol and could ultimately lead to life threatening conditions including heart attacks and strokes.

Natural Testosterone Suppression: Like most anabolic steroids Winstrol will decrease your natural testosterone production.

Prepare yourself for testicle shrinkage because I hate to break it to you folks – testosterone is produced in your balls!

Add to that the loss of muscle mass, infertility and a general decrease in energy and performance and you might start wondering if this wondrous product was worth it at all.

Liver Toxic: This point must be re-emphasised! Winstrol is toxic to your liver. Even more so when taken in its oral pill form but still also in a significant amount if injected.

It is an anabolic steroid and anabolic steroids can cause tumours in your liver, itching, jaundice dark urine and loss of appetite to name just a few of the effects.

Joint Pain: Winstrol dries you out which will cause joint pain due to losses of synovial fluid. This can be quite painful!

Insomnia: You may struggle to get your 8 hours of sleep a night to say the least.

Depression: Because this drug inhibits the testosterone production in your body it can lead to depression particularly in the post cycle stage.

Winstrol Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does It Take To See Results? This is the question on any body builder’s lips that is considering whether or not to begin using Winstrol.

Its effects are almost immediate, drastic and undeniably impressive.

However never forget the side effects I’ve explained above.

I cannot emphasise enough the risks involved and the importance of being well informed on any substance you are considering to make a key part of your routine.

WeekWhat To Expect
After 1 Week..Expect to see significant loss of water weight. You will feel much less bloated and your muscles will feel harder.
2 Weeks In..The second week is where you’ll start to lose more fat than you ever thought was possible.

You’ll feel stronger and already much more ripped to the point where people will really start to take notice.

4 Weeks In..After a month on Winstrol will look like a completely different person.

You’ll be stronger than ever and you’ll have increased vascularity and probably an inflated ego to boot.

6 Weeks In..By the end of your cycle you will look competition ready with a shredded physique combined with a newfound overall strength.

You’ll have maximum definition and a much lower body fat than you ever thought possible to achieve in such a short amount of time.

Of course it’s important to note that these results will vary if you are not already a serious body builder with a good foundational knowledge on training and nutrition.

You also need to eat right and train correctly.

Should You Use Winstrol?

Apart from the negative side effects the main problem with Winstrol is that your results will fade within around 4 weeks after you stop taking it.

And Winny can shutdown your natural testosterone production so you’ll need a post cycle therapy otherwise you’ll end up weak and depressed which is what happens when you lose all your testosterone.

So you have to ask yourself is it really worth the risks just to be stronger and a bit more ripped for a month or two?
